Renewing Frankincense Forests and Communities

Frankincense trees face mounting challenges from overharvesting, land degradation, and changing climate patterns.

To protect these precious ecosystems, we unite with a network of dedicated partners—including local communities, governments, researchers, and conscious businesses—to nurture lasting conservation solutions.

Our work centers on three vital pillars: sustainable harvesting practices that honor the trees' natural cycles, thoughtful ecosystem restoration that rebuilds biodiversity, and community-led initiatives that place local wisdom at the forefront. By embracing regenerative approaches that enhance soil health and improve water conservation, we're helping ensure the vitality of both frankincense forests and the communities who have served as their guardians for generations.

Tugga Watershed Restoration Project

In Somalia's arid heart, the Tugga project revitalizes a degraded watershed through ecological restoration, sustainable agriculture, and community collaboration.

We're building an education and innovation center to drive this transformation. Our work focuses on water and soil management, regenerative agriculture, and long-term ecological restoration, fostering both environmental recovery and community empowerment through peacebuilding initiatives. Reforestation, erosion control, and habitat restoration enhance biodiversity and water quality. Regenerative agriculture boosts productivity and provides farmers with sustainable tools. The project creates jobs, improves food and water security, and builds community resilience. It also serves as a knowledge hub, training others in restoration and regenerative practices.

Forest & Coastal Program

This program empowers coastal communities by restoring and conserving vital mangrove ecosystems.

Mangroves protect against flooding, provide habitat for wildlife, and support local livelihoods. We establish community tree nurseries to reverse deforestation and land degradation, growing indigenous trees for soil stabilization and habitat support. Our work also includes initiatives like compost making, water retention strategies, and promoting regenerative entrepreneurship. We aim to build community resilience, diversify livelihood options, and create a greener, healthier Somalia.
